DNA binding properties of integrases. Equal concentrations of WT control IN or mutated integrases (5 pmol) were incubated with the radiolabeled olignucleotide (0.2 pmol) corresponding to (A) 3′-processing, (B) strand transfer or (C) disintegration reaction substrates. Following incubation the mixtures were filtered through nitrocellulose filters and extensively washed. The extent of DNA bound to each enzyme was quantified by scintillation counting. Bars represent the means ± SD of triplicate independent experiments. Integrases are named according to the amino acid sequence present in the V₁₅₁E₁₅₂S₁₅₃ region.
