Transplantation of genetically modified L8 cells expressing NTFs improved motor function after sciatic nerve injury. One day after a crush of the rats’ right hind limb, myogenic cells expressing one of the four NTFs or GFP or a mixture of myogenic cells expressing all four NTFs were transplanted into the injury site. One group was injected with saline only. Motor recovery was examined by rotarod and presented as time spent on rod. In rats injected with MPCs-MIX+, motor function was markedly improved, compared to the other treatments. (n=9, *P< 0.05 as determined by ANOVA test).
