The number of complete exons contained in the final transcriptome assembly is related to the strength of quality trimming for any of the studied sequencing depths, Trimming at Phred = 20 was always associated with poor performance. Data are normalized to the number of complete exons obtained in the most favorable trimming level for each dataset. Negative numbers indicate the detrimental affect of trimming. 10, 20, 50, 75, 100 M refer to the subsamples size. 10 M replicate is the technical replicate, 10 M alt. dataset is the secondary dataset.
