Effect of hypoxia on adiponectin- and IL-1β-stimulated production of VEGF, MMP-1 and MMP-13 in (a) endothelial cells and (b) osteoblasts. The cells were treated with adiponectin and/or IL-1β under hypoxic conditions for 24 h. The culture supernatants were analyzed for VEGF, MMP-1 and MMP-13 by ELISA. The data shown are representative of three independent experiments, and similar results were obtained from all the three. Values are expressed as mean±s.e.m. *P<0.05 vs the normoxia group.
