a

Chloramphenicol resistance is defined as growth on 500 ng/μl chloramphenicol (n = 2). Collagenase activity is defined as production of collagenase at 4 h of growth in TSB at levels at least 5 times higher than that of P1 (negatives had lower collagenase than P1) (n = 2). Mutant 1 (MvfR) does not produce pyocyanin because of a lack of quinolone production.

As reported in the Pseudomonas Genome Database at http://www.pseudomonas.com/.

c

As reported in the P. aeruginosa PAO1 transposon mutant library at http://www.gs.washington.edu/labs/manoil/libraryindex.htm.
