Intimate attachment of L. pneumophila to hMDMs triggers an increase in cellular levels of free amino acids. The hMDMs pretreated with cytochalasin D were infected for 15 min, followed by preparation of cellular lysates and determination of the relative levels of cellular amino acids by GC-MS. Amino acid levels are expressed as the fold ratio of infected/uninfected hMDMs. The analyses were performed in triplicate, and the data shown are from one of three representative experiments. The data represent analyses of 100 infected cells and are representative of three independent experiments.
