Exposure to the PKC inhibitor Ro-31-8220 eliminates [Ca²⁺]_i oscillations in a dose-dependent manner. CaRHEK-293 cells were pretreated for 1 h with increasing concentrations of the PKC inhibitor Ro-31-8220. The cultures were then perfused with a solution containing 3 mM CaCl_2. Results show the percentage of cells showing [Ca²⁺]_i oscillations (○) or displaying a nonoscillatory response (■, type B + type C of Fig. 1). Also shown is the percentage of total responding cells (patterns A + B + C) in the population exposed to increasing concentrations of Ro-31-8220 (△).
