Number of adherent monocytes per mm² on AuNP, Au, TCP, and Thx after 18 hours of primary adhesion followed by 24 hours of culture and a 1 hour challenge with either opsonized zymosan particles or opsonized Staphylococcus epidermidis. Unstimulated cells were used as controls.
