The functional distributions show that coarse-grained functions are conserved across cellular proteomes and Metabolism is the most dominant functional category. Numbers in parentheses indicate the total number of FSFs annotated in each dataset. The number of FSFs increases in the order Archaea, Bacteria and Eukarya.
