The template VOI mask for carotid and surrounding tissue was obtained from the spatially normalized (a) and averaged weighting parameter image for blood (b). Individual VOI masks for carotid and surrounding tissue were created by inverse spatial normalization of the template VOI mask (c). The inverse normalization parameters were derived from the spatial normalization of the average image of dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) to the ligand specific PET template.
