Histamine stimulates apical release of H2O2 from polarized cultures of primary human bronchial epithelial cells. Cells obtained from two different donors were differentiated on air–liquid interface (ALI) cultures (6.5-mm transwells, 24 wells) for 21 days. Apical H2O2 production was measured on adherent cells over 30 minutes by the Amplex Red/HRP assay in the presence or absence of 300 μM histamine (triplicates, mean ± SD). *P < 0.05 and **P < 0.01 (Student’s t test).
