Dose-dependent induction of apoptosis in MCF-7 cells after nickel nanoparticle (Ni NP) exposure. (A) Ni NPs induced the expression of mRNA levels of apoptotic gene caspase-3 in MCF-7 cells. (B) Ni NPs also induced the activity of the caspase-3 enzyme in MCF-7 cells.^a (C) A significant positive correlation between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the caspase-3 enzyme in MCF-7 cells after 24 hours’ exposure to 10, 25, and 50 μg/mL of Ni NPs.
