LTA mutants in both WT and ΔmarR L. monocytogenes background trigger an enhanced type I interferon response in macrophage cells. RT-qPCR analysis of IFN-β, IL-6, and TNF-α (A–D; and E,F, respectively) 6 h.p.i. of BMD macrophage cells with the following bacterial strains: WT, ΔmarR, and strains carrying deleted LTA genes (ΔltaP, ΔlafA, ΔlafB, ΔlafC) in the background of WT or ΔmarR and corresponding complemented strains. Transcription levels are represented as relative quantity (RQ), relative to the levels in uninfected cells. The data represent three biological repeats (N = 3).
