Figure 2

A Coomassie-stained SDS-PAGE gel showed that the active form of the protein CN1E1 was over-expressed in E. coli at 16°C. The expression and purification conditions were reported in Martínez-Martínez and colleagues (2013). As shown, a high percentage of the protein was produced in its soluble form, which yielded a purity greater than 98% after a single His6-tag purification step. Abbreviation: MW, molecular weight marker. The lanes include the following: lane 1, soluble cell fraction after induction with 1.0 mM IPTG; lane 2, soluble cell fraction without IPTG; lane 3, molecular weight marker (from top to bottom: 225, 150, 100, 75, 50, 35, 25 and 15 kDa); and lane 4, pure protein after His6-tag purification.
