Alkaline phosphatase activity in control and induced ASC populations were significantly different, regardless of beacon presence (*p<0.0001). Activity in control samples was near zero, while activity in induced samples was two orders of magnitude higher. There were no significant differences in activity between beacon-treated and untreated samples undergoing osteogenesis, serving as both a signal of successful differentiation and evidence for uninterrupted protein synthesis in the presence of molecular beacons.
