Reduced OPCs in Shp2 cKOs are observed at late embryonic stages. Olig2 expression in OPCs at E18.5 is reduced in the Shp2 cKO (Shp2loxP/loxP;Olig2cre/+) in the medial CC (B) and VF regions (D, red asterisk) compared with controls (Shp2loxP/+;Olig2cre/+) (compare CC in B with A and red asterisk in D with C). Olig2 expression in the lateral CC between the striatum and cortex (dashed lines) was largely unaffected in Shp2 cKOs (D, dashed lines) compared with controls (C, dashed lines).
