Adiponectin expression and secretion in response to fructose. Fructose (red squares) induces adiponectin expression transiently. The time kinetics resembles that of the lipogenic genes (Figure 1). The rise is not limited to the adiponectin transcript as cells also excrete more adiponectin during maturation when treated with fructose. Adiponectin secretion ceased once maturation was completed, irrespective of fructose in the medium. Each symbol depicts one qPCR/ELISA measurement per dish in a representative experiment.
