Chlorhexidine inhibits L1 mediated neurite outgrowth at pharmacologic concentrations. Cerebellar granule neurons are prepared as described in Figure 1 and plated on poly L-lysine alone (PLL), or with L1 (L1). Additions to the media are: Ethanol, E (25 mM); chlorhexidine vehicle, V (1%); and increasing concentrations of chlorhexidine (CHG) as indicated.
