Cytokine levels in cell culture supernatant samples. Human fetal RPE cells challenged with 0.3 μM Ab1-40 oligomers for 24 hours showed increased secretion of IL-8 by ELISA. Compared to control cells, IL-8 secretion was increased, by approximately a factor of 2, in cultures of Ab1-40-treated cells (*significance by t-test, P < 0.05). Mean values from three independent experiments and the SEM are shown.
