(A) Rhodamine-labeled tubulin was incubated with purified MBP or MBP-Mdp3 fusion proteins at 37°C for 20 min, and the morphology of microtubules was examined with the fluorescence microscope. (B and C) Experiments were performed as in (A), and the intensity (B) and length (C) of microtubules were measured. (D) Rhodamine-labeled tubulin was incubated with purified MBP or MBP-Mdp3 fusion proteins at 37°C for 20 min and then placed on ice for 1 or 3 min, and the morphology of microtubules was examined with the fluorescence microscope. (E) Experiments were performed as in (D), and the length of microtubules was measured.
