Intrathecal synthesis in CNS infection implies plasma cells, and as demonstrated herein, needs survival niches supported by TLO. Sub-pial demyelination is associated with TLO, as classically known in MS, but also in chronic CNS inflammation and infections. Therefore, sub-pial demyelination induced by TLO is not a hallmark of MS and defines the concept of TLO-pathy.
