Submucosal venular dilations in response to capsaicin. Capsaicin (100 nM) dilated the venule and prevented the generation of spontaneous constrictions in control venule (A). Capsaicin evoked a constriction in a different venule that had been pretreated with CGRP8-37 (2 μM, B). These results were summarized in (C). The capsaicin-induced dilatory response of submucosal venules was significantly inhibited by CGRP8-37 (n = 6, *P < 0.05). Resting diameters wee 72 μm (A) and 62 μm (B).
