Inhibition of ARTEMIS endonuclease and 5′-exonuclease activity by Zn2+. Addition of Zn2+ inhibits the endonuclease and 5′-exonuclease activity of ARTEMIS in parallel. 50 nm ssDNA substrate (JG169) was incubated with 50 nm ARTEMIS in a 10-μl reaction. Reactions were incubated at 37 °C for 60 min. Reactions were stopped and analyzed by 12% denaturing PAGE.
