alamarBlue reduction as a basis for a prodrug screen. The prodrugs nitrofurazone (NFZ) and nitrofurantoin (NFT), protonophore CCCP, ciprofloxacin (CIP), and kanamycin (KAN) were added at 50 μg/ml to wells of a microtiter plate containing alamarBlue and E. coli cells. Fluorescence was detected using a excitation wavelength at 544 nm and emission wavelength at 590 nm. Values are means ± standard deviations (SD) (error bars).
