STAg treatment increases serum cytokine levels. Approximately 8-week-old C57BL/6 mice were uninfected or inoculated with 1 × 10⁶ P. berghei ANKA iRBC and treated with PBS or STAg 1 day post-P. berghei infection. Blood was collected at 2 or 14 h after treatment, and serum cytokine levels of IL-12p70, IFN-γ, MCP-1, IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-10 were quantitated by CBA (n = 3 per time point). A representative of two experiments is shown. Significance was determined by a Kruskal-Wallis test, but no comparisons were statistically significant.
