A: MCF-7 cells were transiently transfected with expression and promoter-reporter constructs. Results (luciferase activity) are normalized to the value in the control (C) transfections. Insets are Western blots that were all run on the same gel, were processed for Western blotting and presentation together before rearrangment to display in the same order as the rest of the figure. B: MCF7, MDA-MB 468, T47D, and PC3 cells were infected with adenovirus carrying Δ5 or FL Stat5a cDNA at MOI 30 for 2 hours and relative viable cell number was assayed 7 days later. For PC3 cells, some cells were also stimulated with PRL. For T47D cells, actual cell numbers are presented as an extra control for possible non-specific effects of infection on the MTS assay. n=16 for each replicate. *, p<0.01,** p<0.02, *** p< 0.005, **** p< 0.0001 versus control.
