Biofilm formation of the S. acidocaldarius lrs14 deletion mutants by microtitre plate assays. Biofilm formation of each strain was calculated by the correlation of the measured crystal violet absorbance of attached cells (OD₅₇₀) and growth of planktonic cells (OD₆₀₀) to emphasize the amount of cells in a sessile lifestyle. The graph shows biofilm formation as relative to the wild-type strain MW001, which represented 100%.
