The upregulation of ATF6 and GRP78 in Pemt+/+ diabetic mice was reduced in Pemt−/− diabetic mice. The induction of p-eIF2α, p-IRE1α and XBP-1 by STZ treatment was ameliorated by the Pemt deficiency; however the difference between the groups did not reach statistical significance (Supplemental Figure 5 ).
