The proportion of sera with detectable anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory cytokines were determined following the analysis of sera from 44 ID-IBS, 16 PI-IBS, and 40 healthy volunteers using the Proteome Profiler Human Cytokine Array Panel A kit (R&D Systems, Minneapolis, MN).
