Exponentially growing wild type or ΔaspC cells in ABTG medium at 37°C were supplemented with 100 μg/mL of Asp, Gly or Tyr. Cells were then treated with rifampicin and cephalexin for 3–5 generations and analyzed by flow cytometry as described in the legend to Figure 1.
