Peripheral blood mononuclear cells samples of 10 dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) and five dengue fever (DF) patients in acute (DHFa or DFa) or convalescent (DHFc or DFc) phase of disease were used to extract total RNA and produce the cDNA used on quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction assays. Beta-actin was used as normalisation gene. A mix of cDNA obtained from five non-dengue (ND) volunteers was used as calibrator sample. Asterisk means p < 0.05.
