Slightly crushed	1 Moderate-force hit to increase pliability without reducing cartilage structural integrity
Moderately crushed	2 Moderate-force hits to increase pliability and also reduce structural integrity
Significantly crushed	3–4 Moderate-force hits, enough to cause the graft to bend with gravity
Severely crushed	5–6 Hits forceful enough to totally destroy the integrity of the cartilage and result in complete malleability of the graft
