Potential factors influencing the selection of chromatin-binding sites. Numerous characteristics may influence the selection of binding sites in the genome. DNA primary sequence and sequence composition, the local chromatin environment and long-range chromatin conformation, protein–protein interactions and non-coding RNA guidance may act synergistically for proper targeting of chromatin complexes to their sites of action.
