The window allows a side view of the prey area for observation and high speed video recording of the strike-capture sequence. The upstream collimators create uniform, small-scale turbulence and uniform flow through the flume. The downstream gate can be raised to release the shark from the pen used to hold each animal prior to testing. The large remaining part of the oval tank (shown partially) was used to maintain experimental animals.
