Performance of the RAI and serum biomarkers for prediction of subsequent severe AKI

Test RAI NGAL MMP-8 Ela-2
Sensitivity 93 (76 to 99) 90 (72 to 97) 86 (69 to 95) 90 (73 to 97)
Specificity 36 (33 to 37) 34 (28 to 42) 33 (30 to 34) 44 (42 to 46)
PPV 18 (15 to 19) 18 (12 to 25) 16 (13 to 18) 20 (16 to 21)
NPV 97 (90 to 99) 97 (87 to 99) 94 (87 to 98) 97 (91 to 99)
AUC-ROC 0.80 (0.75 to 0.86) 0.72 (0.63 to 0.82) 0.68 (0.59 to 0.78) 0.72 (0.62 to 0.82)

Data are presented as the percentage (95% confidence interval). A RAI score of ≥8 is considered fulfillment of renal angina. The fulfillment of renal angina on day 0 was compared with the presence of AKI on day 3 of admission for the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV. The absolute value of the RAI (range, 1–40) was used to derive the AUC-ROC.
