Chain elongation of palmitoyl-CoA by isolated intact rat heart mitochondria

Rat heart SSM were incubated at 37 °C in the presence of palmitoyl-CoA and [1-¹⁴C]acetyl-CoA or [2-¹⁴C]malonyl-CoA for 5 and 15 min, respectively, as described under “Experimental Procedures.” The values are expressed as picomol/min/mg mitochondrial protein and represent the mean ± S.E. of three separate experiments.
