Concentration-response curves by metal-substituted analogs of AEOL11215. The ability of metal-substituted analogs of AEOL11215 to inhibit PQ2+-induced mitochondrial H2O2 net production was evaluated. These data show that none of the metal-substituted analogs was able to inhibit the net production of H2O2 over a broad range of concentrations, suggesting that manganese is critical in H2O2-scavenging activity. AEOL11215, Mn+; AEOL11249, Zn2+ analog; AEOL11250, Fe2+ analog; AEOL11251, Co2+ analog.
