The circulating levels of 31 cytokines/chemokines were measured in paired blood samples collected from the forearm and the varicose vein of CVI patients (n = 6). Data are expressed as ratio between local (varicose) and systemic (forearm) values. In (a), 7 representative cytokines/chemokines displaying the same levels at the varicose vein site and at systemic level are shown. In (b), the 3 cytokines displaying higher circulating levels (*P < 0.05) at the varicose vein site with respect to the systemic level are shown. Box plots are used to show the median and interquartile values for each group of data.
