Representative trend of airway pressures during positive end-expiratory pressure ramps and imaging series. Positive end-expiratory pressure was increased and decreased between 0 and 9 cm H2O in 3 cm H2O steps. Each positive end-expiratory pressure level was maintained for 90 s before image acquisitions.
