Endothelial cell density on the tubular scaffold at day 2 and 7 of culture. Endothelial cell density assays were conducted on PE-only, PE/CM, and PE + VEGF164 cultures. After 48 hr of culture, endothelial density was significantly higher in PE cells containing VEGF164 in comparison to the other two groups (P < 0.001). At day 7, endothelial density continued to be significantly higher in the PE + VEGF cultures versus the PE/CM cocultures and PE-only cell cultures (P < 0.001).
