Inhibition of the flk-1 receptor decreases coronary tube morphogenesis in PE/CM cocultures. An endothelial tube formation assay was conducted on PE cells cocultured with CM and PE cells cocultured in the presence of SU 1498, an Flk-1 inhibitor. In the presence of the inhibitor (PE + Inh), endothelial tube formation was significantly decreased (P < 0.001).
