Motor neuron survival is not affected by muscle ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor α (CNTFRα) depletion. Lumbar spinal motor neurons were counted in spinal cords harvested from muscle CNTFRα-depleted and control mice 3 weeks after sciatic nerve crush. Neither the lesion nor the CNTFRα depletion influenced the number of motor neurons, nor was there any interaction (P >0.05 for all two-way ANOVA terms). Means with SEM are presented.
