Effect of EBV proteins on p53 and p21. (A) CNE2Z cells were transfected with the indicated EBV expression plasmids or empty expression plasmid (pMZS3F), and, 24 h later, cell lysates were analyzed by Western blotting using antibodies specific to the indicated proteins or to the FLAG tag on the EBV proteins. CNE2Z cells treated with etoposide are shown as a positive control for p53 activation. p53 (B) and p21 (C) levels from CNE2Z cells transfected with expression plasmids as described for panel A were quantified from Western blots from three independent experiments.
