Impaired tone conditioning in 5XFAD mice. Aged 5XFAD, Tg4–42, and WT mice at 12 months of age were trained with a CS/US pairing for tone fear conditioning (n = 11–13). Mice were placed in an altered fear conditioning chamber 48 h post training and tested for freezing during tone presentation (CS). WT and Tg4–42 mice shock froze significantly more during tone presentation compared to the training trial. In contrast, 5XFAD mice did not associate the tone with the received foot-shock as freezing was not significantly different between the training and the tone trial.
