Autologous serum is not able to support cardiospheres (CSs) formation after primary explant. Representative images of explant cultures show rapid initial growth in autologous human serum (aHS) compared with foetal bovine serum (A), and higher cell yield (n = 5) in terms of harvest of CS-forming cells (B).
