Schematic of the photosystem from green sulfur bacteria. The chlorosome envelope is made of a lipid monolayer and chlorosomal proteins with BChl c aggregates enclosed. The baseplate is located at the bottom of the chlorosome and interacts with the FMO protein. The 8th BChl a (in red), and its tail sticks out of the protein surface and interacts with the baseplate. On the other side, the FMO transfers energy to the reaction center in the membrane.
