Purified PGX1 Exhibits PG Activity in Vitro.

(A) Immunoblotting using anti-His antibody shows that soluble His-tagged PGX1 is expressed in E. coli after induction. M, prestained protein standard (Bio-Rad). Star indicates the size of His-SUMO alone, and asterisk indicates the predicted size of His-SUMO-PGX1.

(B) The specific activity of PGX1 was calculated from three different samples. PG activity units are defined as the amount of enzyme that releases 1 μmol of reducing end groups per minute per milligram of protein at 30°C. Purified protein from empty vector cultures was used as a control. Error bars indicate sd.
