Low viscosity CMC is not sufficient to prevent viral spread on M2-10B4 monolayers. Monolayers begun with 1.25 × 105 M2-10B4 cells (subconfluent) were infected and overlaid with low viscosity CMC (158 mPas final, left images) or intermediate viscosity CMC (480 mPas final, right images).
