Associations between preexisting mental disorders and no treatment (all stages) and no chemotherapy (Stage 3 only) were estimated using logistic regression models that adjusted for age; race and ethnicity; sex; marital status; Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results region; income; comorbidity; year of diagnosis; and stage (for no-treatment model only).

Analyses were restricted to patients who remained alive and enrolled in Medicare at least 6 months after their date of diagnosis.
