Role of Steen solution in the cellular production of ROS. In vitro study: ROS production in cells suspended in the buffer solution (BS) or Steen solution and stimulated with or without arachidonic acid (AA) (0.5 mM) for platelet (PLT) (a), lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (50 pg/mL) for lymphocytes/monocytes (LYM/MON) (b), and phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) (10 μM) for polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) (c). Cells were treated or not with apocynin (50 μM). Experiments were led on 10 subjects. White bars in the histogram graph represent control. A representative cytometry analysis of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production (d).
